Shower Doors & Tub Enclosures
Sevier County Glass and Mirror has been installing shower enclosures for over 20 years. Over those years we have found that shower enclosures require two main features, beauty and functionality. Shower enclosures no longer have to be plain, basic or boring to be functional. They can also be a beautiful, chic, and a pleasant retreat. In recent years, shower and tub enclosures have become one of the best investments a homeowner can make in their bathroom, both for the present enjoyment and future resale. According to Home & Garden magazine, “The bathroom is the new kitchen.”
The options available for shower and tub enclosures are numerous. Choose a framed unit with ¼” glass or a frameless unit in either 3/8″ or 1/2” glass. Styles include clear, obscure, pattern, or etched glass. Compliment any of these options with over a dozen different hardware finishes and you’ll have your own unique shower enclosure that will combine both beauty and functionality.
Frameless Shower Enclosures
(Heavy Glass Units 3/8” or ½”)
Frameless units can provide simple elegance or elaborate architectural appeal to a bathroom. These frameless units give a more contemporary, open look to your shower by eliminating metal framework around the glass, giving the “All Glass” look. This is our most popular shower enclosure. Most frameless units utilize 3/8″ glass, with 1/2” glass available upon special request. The doors for frameless units are unique in comparison to conventional styles, as they are double action, swinging inward and outward. The hinges we utilize on the doors are self-centering. Along with the beauty of the frameless look, functionality comes into play with the double action feature of the door. So instead of opening the door outward upon exiting, opening the door to the interior will allow the water on the door to drip in the basin of the shower rather than on the floor of the bathroom. To maintain the frameless beauty, side panels of glass in a frameless units are attached with wall mounted clamps. Sevier County Glass takes extreme pride in our ability to install a high quality, functional, and beautiful frameless shower unit by using a high quality silicone caulking around the perimeter of our units. We use a “Water-Clear” silicone, which dries with the same clear luster as the glass.

Framed Shower Enclosures
Depending on the design and size of your shower, a framed enclosure may best suit your needs. Structurally strong due to the metal component, a framed enclosure allows for the use of lighter 1/4″ glass and can be a less expensive alternative than a frameless unit. Framed units are also water-tight due to the close tolerances, flush joints, and a continuous magnetic latch when door is in the closed position. Doors on framed units are single-action opening only to the exterior. Framed units come in a wide variety of finishes and will accompany most all pattern glass available.
